The old man sure feels good, as his 2020 batting average attests! Vanando A – “Vinny” – settled every mare he bred on the first try this season, at the seasoned age of 18. With all the craziness going on in the world, it brings a smile to our faces to see ultrasound after ultrasound with that beautiful black dot.
Waypoint Farm is expecting four foals in 2021, our largest group to date. We are exceptionally excited about this group. Two are coming from hard-to-settle mares who haven’t had foals since 2018, another will be an eagerly anticipated full sibling to an outstanding colt we welcomed this spring, and the final one will be a full Dutch out of the spectacular mare Didee, who we were fortunate enough to pull out of a TN kill pen earlier this year.
Introducing our 2021 in-utero foals:
- Vanando A x Highpoint’s Queen Merry (ASB)
- Merry (CH The King of Highpoint x CH The More the Merrier, by Moreland Command) is the dam of both CH Good Deal (Doodad) and Notoriously Merry WF (Tori). Doodad was a champion in the breed ring before transitioning to CDEs and moving all the way up to FEI-level competition. He now competes in eventing and is headed to the American Eventing Championships in August 2020.
- Vanando A x Athena WF (KWPN)
- Talia is ASB x KWPN DHH (CH Top Spool x Keberna, by Fabricius). Talia was the dam of Nero WF, the very promising colt we lost to a lightning strike in April 2019. Talia is a lovely riding and driving horse in her own right, with a fantastic temperament and quality gaits.
- Vanando A x Hart’s Queen Cobra (ASB)
- Haya (King Cobra x Fort Chiswell’s Retained Assets, by Attache’s Royal Assets) trots powerfully off all four corners and has a chest to die for. She is the dam of two very nice full ASBs that have been sold to dressage homes, and produced a stellar colt by Vanando A for us this spring. We’ve requested a repeat performance!
- Vanando A x Didee (KWPN)
- Didee (Moneymaker x Tidee, by Jonker) is a flashy, powerful and well built mare we acquired this spring. We are excited to see what she produces with Vinny.
Any of these foals are available to be reserved, and we also have two spectacular colts from this season available for your consideration:
- Vanando A x Hart’s Queen Cobra. Bay colt, 4 whites, faint star, snip.
- Jaleet x Fanfare WF (Zachariah x Sanne, by Jonker). Chestnut colt, four whites, faint star, snip. The only reason we chose not to breed “Rina” back this season is that I am reserving her to start early next season with some extremely special frozen semen 🙂
